Plenty of yards here sit on a slope steep enough that usable flat space has to be built rather than found. These walls are the structural fix: excavated back, set on compacted stone base, and drained behind so water pressure has somewhere to go instead of pushing the face out. Height, soil and what sits above the wall drive the base and drainage detail.
