A walkway is a base problem before it is a looks problem. These are built on excavated, compacted stone so the surface does not heave through a Maryland freeze-thaw winter, with edge restraint to stop the outer courses from creeping. Width and the approach to the front door matter more than the paver pattern — a walk too narrow to hold two people is the most common thing we replace.
